On The Street: Heavy Metal

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

Some of the most distinguished open-air public art exhibits are right here in Chicago.

Public art enhances neighborhood spaces and adds cultural and social value to its environment. Art stimulates our minds and is a great conversation piece. Look up, down, and all around the city, you'll find art everywhere.

Four of the featured exhibits posted here are a collection of works by various artists participating in the Chicago Sculpture Exhibit (CSE), a not-for-profit organization founded in 2001 by former Alderman Vi Daley ('The Bot' exhibit is not a part of CSE program). CSE's mission is to 'bring art to the neighborhoods.' All of the exhibitions are outdoors and free to the public. The works are also available for purchase after the conclusion of the showings. For a guide to all of the exhibitions and more information, go to www.chicagosculptureexhibit.org.
